Why Pitchmaker?

A strong pitch is more than a deck. Pitchmaker gives teams the confidence and structure to open well, read the room, and make a compelling case when the commercial and reputational stakes are highest. Learn how to influence, engage, and win with clarity and presence.

How It Works

Pitchmaker is built on high-energy practice, structured feedback, and live re-runs that help teams improve fast. Participants work on real pitches, sharpen real messages, and walk away with a repeatable approach they can use immediately.

Sessions run in person or virtual, for intact teams or cross-function cohorts.

Mace: The Pitchmaker

Over six years we have helped Mace win £1.5billion in contracts in the HE and Life Sciences.

The hardest thing in the biggest pitches is deciding how robust to be, agreeing the line, then holding that line consistently from beginning to end. There is always a lot of debate but Russell facilitates that effortlessly, dealing assertively with the biggest of egos.

Six Ways To Pitch

You have a pitch next week. I know this, because everyone has.

There are six ways you can deliver this pitch. I know this, because I’ve spent 17 years listening to pitches and reflecting on how boring even 20 seconds can be.

That key intervention at a meeting, cutting to the chase; your introduction at the kick-off meeting; the networking event where someone asks what you do; the director stopping you at coffee break, asking for an update; bumping into someone you’ve wanted to meet for ages and being asked what you want. Even working from home you are likely to have a call and a point where everyone stops checking their Facebook to tune into your words.

How To Be The Pitchmaker

Working on pitches, from best man speeches many decades ago to creating content for contracts worth hundreds of millions, I know the beauty parade pitch is as far removed from presentation skills as Vimto is from Vodka Martini.

Constructing a pitch and staying vertical whilst making sense are far from easy, but they do not win you the big prize. For that you need to connect emotionally with the tough cookies in the room. From 30 years experience here are seven things to be aware of when trying to win when the stakes are high.
