City of London Corporation: Towering above the Thames
It’s not every day you get to facilitate above The Thames, but that’s where Tower Bridge is. It was a unique experience from the moment we got in the room to going through the secret door for our lunchtime tour.
Russell has helped Mace win contracts to the value of £1.5 billion in the past half dozen years on pitches ranging from £115million to £500million. One of those wins was the Salisbury Square development just off Fleet Street in central London. It will house the City of London Law Courts and a new HQ for City of London Police.
This event was a kick-off strategy day for all the businesses involved in this five-year project and the objective was to have them create a charter for the duration of their working relationship together.
Taking 30 construction and property leaders on a journey to a Charter that will ensure success for the magnificent Salisbury Square development was quite an honour. You are conducting at the Royal Albert Hall while refereeing the World Cup Final, without a baton or whistle.
Creativity in the north tower had flipcharts flying as we threw ideas for successful collaboration between dozens of teams and hundreds of individuals on this complex multi-year project.
The half-billion pound Salisbury Square development will leave a centuries-long legacy in central London:
Walking along Fleet Street to St. Paul’s from The Strand is forever changed.
