OUR TRAINERS TALK THROUGH THEIR TOP THREE PACKING "MUST HAVES" AND TOP THREE TRAINING CONSIDERATIONS
Next week five of our trainers are heading out to Milan to deliver a two-day programme for one of our amazing clients. We caught up with each of them to find out their top three packing “must haves” plus the three things they need to be mindful of when delivering training to 80 non-UK delegates as part of a team. Here’s what they had to say…
Russell Wardrop
Top 3 things to pack:
- Factor 50
- Sunhat
- Ray-Bans
Top 3 considerations:
- Pace needs to be slower for an international audience.
- Be “present” for the entire conference, not just in the room.
- Remember my colleagues - I normally travel solo and can be a bit introverted.
Marina Livingstone
Top 3 things to pack:
- Passport/credit card
- Hair straighteners
- Mosquito bands
Top 3 considerations:
- Tune into the audience and build rapport.
- Be adaptable - cover what needs to be covered but allow some flexibility to encourage conversation, discussion and exploration.
- Share and compare ideas with colleagues – identify what’s hot in their groups and how can we collectively add value.
Victoria Russell
Top 3 things to pack:
- My running shoes
- Heels
- Energy fizz sticks
Top 3 considerations:
- Adding value to the delegate skill set - they’re smart and enthusiastic and we need to keep them engaged and “on it”.
- Help delegates get back in the zone in between their breaks which usually involves conference calls/day-to-day deadlines.
- Enjoying my colleague’s banter and ideas throughout the two days.
Richard Norris
Top 3 things to pack:
- My notes!
- CrossFit gear including skipping rope.
- Water bottle - I prefer to drink from my bottle rather than glasses.
Top 3 considerations:
- Make the sessions fun and relevant.
- Go with the flow.
- Finish with flair (so I get the best feedback ahead of Russell).
Nicky Denegri
Top 3 things to pack:
- Flat shoes
- Kindle
- Earphones
Top 3 considerations:
- Clarity of communication and remembering to go light on the idioms.
- Pacing matters! Too slow and they get bored, too fast and they’re bored.
- Be flexible enough to have a laugh while approaching the training with the seriousness it deserves.
As you can see, there’s a lot of careful planning and a lot of consideration involved in a training session of this scale. All tailored towards delivering the best Client Experience!
