ABOUT THE AUTHOR RETURN TO BLOG LISTING

As an avid ‘foodie’ I like to keep an open mind when it comes to trying new things so I recently went to a local networking breakfast discussing ‘2015 the Year of Food and Drink for Scotland’. The talk discussed Scotland’s ‘terroir’ (not terrier!) and the image our produce has both locally and internationally. Scotland is known for having world class produce rich in history and tradition, however the question was raised: how do you change your image and perceptions to allow you to reach out to new markets? Creativity it seems, is the answer.

I see it all the time at local restaurants. They don’t stick to the same recipes day in and day out but they adapt them, taking the beautiful produce Scotland is known for and creatively offering new and exciting dishes. And the way food and drink is described to us is more important than ever.  It seems that we all want a story: where did it come from, how long did it take to travel here and is it sustainable?

At Kissing With Confidence we often talk about your own Personal Brand: what do you want to be known for and how do you want to come across? When it comes to my work I like to think that I have particular strengths that I am known for, but no one wants to be known as a one trick pony. Shake things up and get creative! As the saying goes ‘variety is the spice of life’ . . . food for thought indeed!

P.S Quick update on my previous blog, ‘There’s something Brewing’. Gareth who won the National Homebrew Competition in January is in discussions with the brewery to create his award winning brew. Watch this space!
