ABOUT THE AUTHOR RETURN TO BLOG LISTING

The sofa is set; the TV is huge (The Snip thinks it's 43 inches: it's not); blinds will be drawn: There is a test match starting at Lords today. Time does not allow it now, but in the past I have sat through all five days of many a test match and been up to all hours supporting England in The Ashes. I swore at the telly last Saturday when an All Black was not sin-binned for stopping a certain try in England's first rugby Test in New Zealand, just before a man in white was benched for the same offence. Arsenal is my team of choice when Dundee United are not on the park and my admiration for Stevie G knows no bounds. I've always liked Beckham (how can you not?) and MOTD is on series link. In addition to all that I spend much of my time in England, most of it in London, the best city on the planet.

Taking all of that into consideration I can unequivocally nail my colours to the masthead of England in the FIFA 2014 World Cup. It's Roy's Boys for me though don't expect to see me in a strip, the Three Lions are not actually on my shirt. You can, I think, take these things too far.

Yes. I am supporting England... All the way to the semi-finals.
